Luo Xu (1956, China) draws his inspiration from women's legs, which represent a new kind of beauty and his preferred means of expression. Worried, like many Chinese artists, by ecological disaster, and envisaging the destruction and defilement of nature, his autonomous legs linger on like the last trace of beauty and sensuality in the world.
The artist was featured in our exhibition, Femmes de Chine, and can be seen in "Alors la Chine?" at the Pompidou Centre (25 June - 13 October 2003).
